Lachat Town Farm

In 2011 Friends of Lachat was established to save the circa 1770 David Godfrey homestead from impending demolition by the Town and to develop a vision for the homestead and property along with a Mission Statement as follows:

Our mission is to provide ways to unite all generations around a community farm effort by celebrating Weston's farming roots and offering extensive educational programs related to agriculture, nature, the environment, sustainability, nutrition, and the arts while fostering an appreciation for the history of Weston and it's diverse community.

Toward that end, the farmhouse is virtually completed, a beautiful community garden with 50 raised beds is in operation, dozens of relevant programs, appealing to children, teens, adults and seniors, are being offered each season and scores of volunteers and civic groups are actively engaged. In June of this year, we initiated a monthly Farmers Market that is drawing enormous audiences and receiving wonderful reviews.

As we grow our footprint in the community, we are in the process of establishing a permanent office to administer all of our programs and to coordinate all of the work by our volunteers. Central to any office is computer equipment. Dedicated computer equipment is especially essential to Lachat in order to maintain and preserve our records and documents in one place as opposed to having them residing in countless computers belonging to our volunteers. Inasmuch as we are literally working with scores of volunteers and a database with over 800 names, Lachat needs to have a central repository for our institutional memory residing on our own computers.

We are hopeful that by creating a GoFundMe page, our community and perhaps beyond, will chip in to help us acquire the tools we need to serve our community and help move the Lachat Town Farm forward by giving us the tools we need to work more efficiently.  Thank you for your help!
