friend in Zimbabwe needs help to help others

Donation protected
Since 1980, Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) has been under authoritarian regime.  People must survive by their wits, and care for many others without help.

Isaac Phiri, age 54, founded the Oasis Emthonjeni Project in 2017.
It is a community empowerment project on 12 acres,  located 53 km from Victoria Falls; it  includes poultry raising, brick moulding, cultivation and irrigation.  Future goals include expansion into fish farming, cattle ranching, and hog raising.  Also planned are construction of chalets for tourist accommodations. Local people will have opportunities to sell  their art and crafts to visitors. Guests will enjoy safari tours and traditional singing and dancing events.

Isaac, energetic and charismatic, is a respected leader in his community with responsibility for 12 children orphaned by deceased siblings.  Fluent in multiple languages and educated in social work in the UK, he has worked and lived as a teacher.  Through the Oasis, he has motivated community members, at risk youths and adults, to participate in Project activities and benefit by improved nutrition.  Given Zimbabwe's very high unemployment rate and limitations imposed by COVD 19 risk, the Oasis has evolved in just a few years as an  essential resource to the local communities.

Expenses include purchase of

Pickup Truck   $10,000

Fencing to protect property $1,000
