FREŸJA designs was cultivated by Nicole Braley who grew up near the sunny coasts of Orange County, California. Her discovery of her talents as a designer began at a young age. She started her sewing career by making clothing for her sister’s stuffed animals as a child. When she reached the age of twelve her parents bought her the one thing in life that has stuck with her since that time, her very own sewing machine. She still uses the same machine today as she creates her adorned handmade one of a kind pieces. After graduating high school Nicole decided to pursue her passion even further and began attending The Art Institute of California to obtain her Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design.
During her college years she worked on many different freelance projects that allowed her creativity to thrive. Her vision as an artist began to surface and as she graduated and made her way into the city of angels to chase after her dreams in the competative idustry. As an adventurous, free spirited woman she started attending transformational music festivals, where the scene brought in a new wave of inspiration and artistic beauty. She dived into the culture and finally felt like she was home with her tribe of like minded individuals. Those who radiate a positive light of love, act with integrity, and dance under the stars howling at the moon. She began to explore the realms of astrology, tarot, and divination and from there FREŸJA was born.
At 24 Nicole decided to go against the traditional way of living for a paycheck and started her own small business as a designer and sewing instructor. Her ultimate dream is to start a free artist factory that holds all the essential tools for artists just starting out to take advatange of the space, collaborate with others, and just be themselves! This space would also bring in successful artists from all over the world to host seminars and workshops on how to build their own business. This goal is inpired by her vision to put an end to mass production and sweat shops and take society back towards a means of NEEDING less and creating more with our hands and supporting one another as creators.
FREŸJA Designs is made up of materials that only serve a powerful meaning and energy; leather, beads, feathers, hand woven fabrics, recycled fabrics, and crystals. It's purpose is to embrace the past and our cultural tradtitions that have long been forgotten by social programming and brainwashing. It's priciples lie in the heart of Norse Paganism and ancient mythology.
The funding will go to FREŸJA Designs first opportunity to be a featured artist in the RAW artist fashion design show on April 9th, 2015 and any additional start up cost.
