Freya’s sponsored read-a-thon for Egypt Equine Aid

Freya’s Buy-a-Bale reading challenge.

My daughter Freya (aged 7) is trying to raise money for an amazing charity in Egypt that rescues horses and donkeys (as well as all other animals) from starvation, injury and abuse. It’s called Egypt Equine Aid.

Although she hasn’t seen footage of how bad it really is she does know that the animals are very skinny and need our help.

Due to the lack of rain in Egypt, hay is scarce and costs £4 a bale so many horses, donkeys and mules are living off rubbish dumps and are very weak. Sadly the animals are still made to work in appalling condition, and many with terrible injuries. Thankfully EEA find and rescue the worst cases and give them a new life where possible and a peaceful end where not.

She is going to try and read Black Beauty in a day. It’s 20 chapters and 230 pages so we’ll see how far she gets. Some of the sadder parts will be edited out as they may upset her but mostly it's a story about the importance of kindness.

If you could please sponsor Freya whatever you can afford per chapter, I’m sure she will do us all proud. The challenge will take place on Sunday 1st June ❤️
