Hi, my name is Lauren and I am raising money for my best friend's daughter, Freya. Freya has been hospitalized 3 times in her short 8 months of life due to the epilepsy that comes with her SCN1A genetic mutation, and her seizures have become worse and harder to control. She has been on seizure medication since her first seizure back in September 2022, and doctors are still trying to find a drug cocktail that works for her. This most recent seizure, in January 2023, was not even able to be controlled in the ambulance until Freya was halfway to the hospital and had had 3 doses of rescue meds. The fear of SUDEP (Sudden, Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) lingers in the background as Freya and her wonderful parents battle this completely unforeseeable de novo genetic mutation.

Freya, "La Chiquita Guerrera" ("the little warrior"), is fighting her little heart out. This is not simply something that sweet Freya will grow out of. Freya's parents, Carly and Adrian, (although they are too kind to ask for it) are in need of money to pay for Freya's medical bills, and the many, many necessities that insurance unfortunately will not cover. Some examples include medical devices, items for a substantial hospital "go bag" including bibs, toys, etc. (so the family can be packed and ready to go at all times), gas/food as the family is 2 hours from Hershey Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania, etc.

There is absolutely no way that these expenses could have been foreseen or budgeted for, and most of us cannot even imagine what this beautiful family is going through. Carly and Adrian are the sweetest couple I know, and are genuinely amazing people who do not deserve to be going through any of this. Sweet Freya and her family deserve our help.
