#FreeToo Rising!

Donation protected
#FreeToo is a healing justice initiative, that's created an intentional community and political platform for Black, Indigenous and People of Color who've survived sexual violence, intimate partner violence and their impact on our communities.  The initiative was founded by Naimah Efia, and is co-stewarded by brilliant folks who are deeply committed to the healing, dignity and power of BIPOC survivors.   Naimah visions & co-creates healing spaces that demonstrate the counter narrative of BIPOC survivors, that centers our healing and liberation.  These spaces aspire to honor the origins of the #metoo movement, as well as legacies of healing justice work, community-organizing and intervention around sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and gender-based violence, that have been created and sustained by Black women, LBGTQ community, and people of color occupying intersectional experiences of marginalization.

#FreeToo provides ways for us to live out our right to be seen living boldly, courageously and free!  We  celebrate, uplift and bring visibility to our interdependent healing as communities of care, who empower and honor ourselves, one another, and our journeys beyond survival.

Mainstream media has little to no representation of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), who are survivors living in our complex truth, inherent worth and reclaimed dignity; all of which are rooted in legacies of resilience across generations.  #FreeToo was created in response to the mainstream failure to accurately represent survivors of color, whilst public attention has grown  around sexual violence through the #metoo movement.  There has been an inability, and at times refusal, to allow BIPOC survivors to tell our stories of survival in ways that honor our truth and our communities' legacies.  BIPOC survivors deserve to tell our stories, in ways that center how we’ve BEEN healing in concert with one another, as a political practice of self-love and community care across generations.

By contributing to this campaign, you'll be supporting a broader intentional community and political  movement.  Your contributions will support some of the following:

1) Bi-Monthly Community Yoga & Self-Care Cyphers (hosted at Kula Yoga)
2) Weekly private yoga sessions, combined with trauma-informed counsel & healing support
3) A Day of Celebration in collaboration with Girl Trek, Black Women’s Blueprint, We Will Not be Silent, and other organizations and collectives doing work to address sexual violence, gender-based violence and IPV in communities of color.
4) Monthly Healing Cyphers, Rituals, Community Circles & Gatherings
5) Equipment & Supplies to bring #FreeToo Yoga & Healing Cyphers into under-resourced communities, beginning with Brownsville, NY.
6.) Transnational partnerships and engagements, collaborating with those doing liberation & healing justice work with survivors.  This will strengthen and build the work beyond capitalist, imperialist, patriarchal, misogynistic, hetero-sexist, homophobic/transphobic limitations.
7.) Arts & Technology based story-telling and media projects that convey the truth and complexity of Black, Indigenous & people of color,  who are sharing their healing in order to move beyond survival.
