Free Jemaell Riley from unlawful imprisonment!

Donation protected

My son, Jemaell, was arrested in Portland in 2014 along with two other young men.  One of the other young men was driving the vehicle in which they were fleeing from the police. They ended up hitting a telephone pole while trying to make a turn on a wet road.  My son flew from the back seat and hit the front windshield and broke his arm. The other young man in the passenger seat also ended up with injuries and he and my son were apprehended  at the scene.
Meanwhile, the young man who was driving did not get hurt and decided to run while armed with a rifle.  He got into a shoot-out with a police officer. He shot and killed a police dog who attacked him and then shot a police officer twice in the legs. The officer survived and fully recovered. Both of the other young men took deals. The one who had the exact same charges as my son, took a deal for 10 years. The one who shot the police officer took a deal for 30 years. In the process of those deals, the other two young men accused my son of being in multiple crimes which there was no evidence for.

Here are the case #'s if you want to read them. They are public information.
Trial case#140431549   Court of Appeals case#A160143   Supreme Court case#S065640

My son refused to take a deal and went to trial. We couldn't find an attorney who would take his case for less than $50K so he ended up with a public defender. Because of that, he was unlawfully sentenced to 17 years. His case went all the way to the Supreme Court..and he won! Most of his charges were dropped but there are a few left so he has to be re-sentenced soon. This time we are being told that if we can hire an attorney he could get time-served and be out shortly. If we don't hire an attorney he could possibly do up to 5 more years. We may need this attorney in as soon as a couple weeks. We need $25K for an attorney this time but we already have some of it saved.

I left the state I was living in and have spent the last 5 years staying near my son so he could have at least one regular visitor.  For all the parents out there, isn't it  incredible what a parent will do for their child when the sh...t hits the fan? It's time for him to get out!!
