In conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention month we are taking this opportunity to help two Idaho children who are the victims of sexual abuse.  Child abuse is never a pleasant subject and child sexual abuse even less pleasant.  Unfortunately, reality is often ugly.

National child sexual abuse statistics are frightening:

     About 1 in 7 girls and 1 in 25 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18.  (1)

Idaho’s child sexual abuse statistics are even more disturbing:

     About 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18.  (2)
 “The long-term emotional damage of sexual abuse can be devastating to the child. . . A child who is the victim of prolonged sexual abuse usually develops low self-esteem, a feeling of worthlessness and an abnormal or distorted view of sex. The child may become withdrawn and mistrustful of adults, and can become suicidal. . . Idaho had a dramatic increase in child sexual abuse cases in 2017  (3), and state social agencies are drastically overburdened.  That means there is no financial help for this family to get the medical care and counseling support they so desperately need. 

 

Unfortunately, we cannot show you pictures of these children, and their names will not be made public because of protection issues.  However, we can tell you that they are precious and deserve to get the needed medical care and counseling to help restore their childhood. 

All money donated will be used to help these two young children get free from this abusive situation and receive the necessary counseling and medical care to recover from this terrible assault. The counselors say it will be a long road to recovery, but all are hopeful that ongoing counseling will give them the possibility of recovery, so they can live normal and productive lives and be able to put this terrible assault on their innocence in the past.
