Help Us Empower the Next Generation — One Kick at a Time
Hi, we’re SheKicks, a youth charity on a mission to help young girls build confidence, strength, and self-defense skills through martial arts. Our motto? Kick like a girl — because being powerful, brave, and capable is who we are.
Our founder Sophia Bruinsma is a news anchor and reporter at KRCR News in Redding, CA.
She’s a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and a US National Champion gold medalist in sparring. Beyond Taekwondo, she’s trained in boxing, Muay Thai kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, bringing a deep passion and experience for martial arts that spans decades.
Starting her martial arts journey at age 6, Sophia knows firsthand how powerful these disciplines can be in building confidence, focus, and strength. She founded SheKicks to bring those same life-changing opportunities to girls in Redding — a space where they can grow, learn, and find their own power.
Too many young girls grow up feeling unsafe, unheard, or unsure of themselves. We’re here to change that. Through a free martial arts programs, we teach girls how to protect themselves, believe in their strength, and support one another as a sisterhood.
Your donation will go directly toward:
Safe training spaces
Gear and uniforms for students in need
Community events to celebrate and uplift girl power
Whether it’s their first punch or their black belt test, every girl who walks through our doors leaves stronger — inside and out.
Join us in building a world where every girl knows just how powerful she really is.
Donate today and help us launch more programs, reach more communities, and create lasting impact — one kick at a time.
