Free Pirate! Urgent Bail Fund for Jailed Friend

Pirate was violently arrested on Monday, July 13, 2020, while peacefully protecting his friend's vehicular home, which the police were trying to confiscate from a public lot in downtown Santa Cruz. 

Pirate is known and loved community member in town. He is being targeted by SCPD for actively challenging the authority that keeps poor and unhoused people marginalized and precarious. His bail has been raised from 5,000 to 25,000, and he is being wrongfully charged with multiple felonies that the footage  and witnesses clearly disprove.  This is austere, retaliatory punishment for Pirate's role in the community. The highest priority is getting him out of jail so he can be reunited with his community and fight the charges from the outside. 

Prisons and jails are always uninhabitable and dangerous, but being booked right now is particularly risky because of COVID-19. We want to post bail in the next few days. All the money from this fundraiser will go towards Pirate's bond, which will cost $2,000. The additional $60 is to compensate for the 3% GoFundMe deduction.
