Free Halal Ramadan Meal Distribution

The Muslim Democratic Club of New York hosts an annual Iftar dinner every year. In light of the public health emergency created by the spread of COVID-19, we are unable to come together at this time. However, given this crisis and the need for resources and help we are raising money to bring free Halal meals directly to community members on the ground in need.  

In order to distribute these meals effectively, we are partnering with our endorsed candidates who have already set up mutual aid relief operations and food distribution efforts in their neighborhoods. These candidates include Assembly Member Catalina Cruz (Corona/Elmhurst),  Zohran Mamdani (Astoria),  Jabari Brisport and Phara Souffrant Forrest (Bed-Stuy),  Moumita Ahmed (Jamaica)  and Richard David (South Ozone Park). 

We are impressed by the effort lead by these candidates since the crisis began. In order to help their effort, we are seeking to distribute $1,000 to each of these efforts. The money raised will be given directly to food vendors providing the meals for distribution. The candidates and their existing operations will ensure the effective and timely distribution of these meals.

Any funds raised in excess of $5,000 will be contributed to a local charity providing relief efforts in NYC.
