Free Brandon Thompson

On March 1st my son was arrested from his high school and charged with 1 misdemeanor count of making terroristic threats due to witness "STATEMENTS" not evidence made against him. He was given a bail of $225,000 and put in prison. He has no prior arrests, no disciplinary action at his school and NO VIOLENT HISTORY. He's a senior in high school, a B average student. For this type of offense the bail should have never been set this high. There were 3 other young men in neighboring counties who were charged with the same offense or greater they either received no bail or a significantly lower bail than my son. For all of the young men recently charged for crimes of this nature, their bail combined doesn't amount to half of  what's being demanded for my son. This is a violation of Brandon's 8th amendment right. We requested a bail review and the judge, despite all of the facts and statements above denied our request to lower Brandon's bail and have him come home with his family to await trial. The other young men are home with their families but Brandon is in a prison, where he's been since March 1st, awaiting his next trial date.  As a mother, my heart grieves knowing that in addition to the color of his skin, the only other reason my son is in a prison cell is because I don't have the means to post his bail. I have filed complaints with my local NAACP and with the ACLU but this is only the beginning of our battle. This will be a lengthy journey as we battle a system riddled with racism and injustice. This is a terrible injustice and I want to bring my son home. I'm asking for your help.
