Fred & Fanny Tschirch Harvey Relief

My name is Eddie Ortega, son to Fanny Tschirch and son-in-law to Fred Tschirch.  We are reaching out to family and friends, in hopes of support for my parents affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Fred and Fanny, living on a fixed income and in retirement, having lived in this home since 1965, were affected by the recent Hurricane Disaster.  Hurricane Harvey impacted many lives, including this amazing couple.  Fred, approaching ninety years of age, a WWII survivor, lost not only his home of over 50 years, as well as every item inside.   Also impacted was my mother Fanny, who imigrated from Colombia as a single mother and raising (3) children with no retirement to fall back on.  Seeing these two incredible human beings fight this fight at their age, is inspirational and only makes us want to fight for them just as hard.  

Their home is located in the Memorial/Briarforest subdivision.  Unfortunately, their home fell under a non-flood zone area.  Needless to say, they have no flood insurance and are forced to start all over again. 


During this time, we have been witness to the best of humanity.  Love and prayers are pouring in from family and friends, near and far.  People we dont even know, like our savior church crew from the Church of Latter Day Saints, driving in from Austin.  They spent their weekend selflessly helping Fanny and Fred salvage their home and belongings. 



In anticipation of a condemed home, we have registered with FEMA, however the disaster assistance is very limited.  We are hoping to secure enough funds to cover some of the costs, but ultimately to find Fanny and Fred a safe place they can call home.  As they say, "it takes a village".
