Colombia Care

In late August, a four-generation family showed up at the doors of a Lutheran church in Tucson, Arizona. Grandmother, mother, daughters, and infant grandsons traveled together from Colombia to the United States to seek refuge. They were processed by U.S. Border Patrol and taken to a local shelter. They had a sponsor in Houston, but the sponsor withdrew. Their time at the shelter expired, and they took a bus, then walked to the nearest church, a Lutheran one. The congregation connected them with immigration attorneys working to reassign their hearing to Tucson or Phoenix. For now, the family will be here in Tucson while they await their hearing. As asylum-seekers, they are here legally. However, they are not permitted to work and have limited access to assistance.
Your support will directly assist this family: food, diapers, clothing, utilities - daily needs. A congregation is providing their housing.
