Frank Rodgers Need for Extensive Back Surgery
Beschermde donatie
Frank has suffered from lower back pain for many years. At times his pain has been unbearable and completely debilitating. His back pain causes issues standing, bending, walking and even sitting at times. I have asked him on several occasions how he can continue to endure this pain. His answer is always the same, "I just deal with it" or "I do what I have to do". Well the time has come where he can no longer "just deal with it". Please read our story as we share our hearts about the urgent need to help him get the back surgery he desperately needs ASAP.
Nov. 12th I woke up to find Frank on the floor besides our bed. He was unable to move and did not have the strength to lift himself off the floor. We finally made it to the living room to his recliner and I could tell he was in a lot of pain. Knowing he would not miss going to work, he headed out the door barely able to walk and went on to work. In less than 2-3 hours, he is calling saying he couldn't take the pain anymore and headed off to see the local Chiropractor. He has seen Dr. Grass on several occasions and each time she has worked wonders in helping give Frank some relief from the pain. However on this particular visit, this was not the case. After having X-Rays, his diagnosis was much worse. He could no longer just put off seeing a spine specialist. So he was referred to Dr. Francis.
On Nov. 14th we made our way to Dr. Francis office. After an extensive office examination, he ordered more test. MRI, X-Rays, CT Scan, EMG. This visit turned into a 7 hour stay. Finally we was called back to go over all these results. Frank has been diagnosed with several issues:
(1) Congenital narrowing of the lumbar spinal canal with superimposed disc bulges at L2-L3 and L3-L4 contributing to moderate spinal canal stenosis at L2-L3 and mild spinal canal stenosis at L3-L4
(2) Circumferential epidural lipomatosis at L5-S1 moderate to severely constricts the thecal sac.
(3) L5 is broke from back to front causing pressure on the nerve. This is the most severity of the 3.
What does this mean in layman terms? Franks L5 is broke from back to front and he has bone rubbing on bone causing issues on the nerve and right hip. He has a tumor of fatty substance built up and it is causing pressure against his spinal cord and nerves. All of these issues affects his balance, walking and other important bodily functions. It can lead to permanent nerve damage, loss of fine motor skills, even bladder and bowel movements.
In order to fix all of this, he has to have a surgical procedure called Lumbar Fusion. This procedure requires robotic surgical assistance because Frank will need 4 screws placed in his back. This device will ensure that the screws will be placed in the areas precisely where is needed. They will make an incision in the back and place 2 screws in the broke area on the back side and then will place him up and make another incision in the stomach and place 2 more screws in the front side of the back. This will give him stability in his back where the bones will no longer rub together and continue to irritate nerves, spine etc.. The cost of this surgery is $86,241.45. This includes all testing, Pre-Op assessments, Surgeon, Asst. Surgeon, Cardiovascular Surgeon, Anesthesiologist and Inoperative monitoring. Facility Fees, Implants and supplies and durable medical equipment. This is a final quote for start to finish. The entire balance must be paid before we can schedule a surgery date. With this surgery he should make a full recovery once physical therapy is done. This will relieve Frank from the excruciating pain, numbness, loss of feeling in his leg and arm and it will help him feel like a normal human being once again.

Frank and I along with our 2 sons have been a resident of Lumberton, Texas for more than 20 years. We have served on committees to help our local community. Both of our sons graduated from Lumberton HS. Frank served in the US Army for 8 years. He is my soul mate, my rock and a strong pillar for our family. He is a dedicated husband and father and our main source of income. Frank is a very hard worker and this condition is making it hard for him to do his job requirements. We currently do not have any health insurance and have been paying out of pocket for all the dr visits, test, labs etc..and we just cannot continue to pay any more medical bills. We have thought of looking into another medical opinion, but we feel due to the severity and area of this surgery, we need the best doctor available and Dr. Francis comes highly recommended. We have shopped around for health insurance, applied for loans and unfortunately those are just not within our reach. This has been a mental and emotional struggle for all of my family.
We are reaching out to those who are willing to help us meet our goal. Give whatever you can as no donation is to small. Please share our story and need with whomever you can thru social media, email etc..
Our Family cannot Thank You enough for taking the time to read our story! We appreciate all the support, love and prayers! God bless each and every one of you.
