Frank, Donna & Charly: Homeless for the Holidays

My name is Tia Torres and I run one of the largest dog rescues in the country: Villalobos Rescue Center. Normally I would be trying to raise money for our organization but now I find myself seeing someone else who might need it a little more than we do at this time.
Frank, Donna & their feline Charly, are homeless in a park in California. Not by choice mind you but because they chose to help another and put themselves last which lead them to lose their jobs and run out of money.
You see, Frank's mother fell ill and rather than put her in an "old folks home" he opted to stay home with Mom until her final days. Running out of money from having to quit his job, he and his wife and a stray cat they found, have been living in their car for quite some time.
To make matters even more complicated, Donna has had cancer and beat it but now has a rod/pin in her hip and sleeping in the car has become so painful that a good Samaritan who visits the park, got them a hotel room for a few days and is about to run out.
The weather in California is now cold and has had some freezing temperatures. Frank and Donna have family in North Carolina and have a safe place to land if they can get there. Unfortunately their car won't make it and they have no money.
The money raised from this GoFundMe will pay for a rental truck, gas and food while they travel to North Carolina. Whatever money we raise here, will be given to my good friend and rescue partner, Nicole Wilde (she sees Frank & Donna every day at the park) and she will facilitate getting them a rental vehicle, gas, etc.
Being homeless is a sad situation to be in. But being homeless during the holidays...I can't even imagine what someone goes through during these times.
I know we are all struggling right now. With the COVID pandemic, people out of work, etc, even we are feeling the crunch. But like I always tell my kids...there is always somebody out there who has it worse than we do.
If you can spare even $1.00, it will go a long way for Frank, Donna and Charly.
