Hurricane Relief for Our Family

Donation protected
Last week, Hurricane Maria devastated my island of Puerto Rico, destroying all on its path at 155 mph during an 8 hour nightmare from coast to coast, leaving the entire island without power and water, and many without homes.

My name is Eliyashira Franco, I currently live in Miami, Fl but I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, my entire family lives in the island. You can imagine the fear and sadness that this event brought to my heart. I finally heard from my parents last Friday, it was a relief to hear their voices. My dad told me that he, my mom, sister, 2-year old nephew and my 86-year old granfather spent those scary hours in a flooded room praying for the storm to be over. Their voices expressed hopelessness. My dad even told me "what you've seen on the news is not even close to what's going on here. The worst is yet to come". They told me they have food and water for a few more days and one tank of gasoline that they are using with a generator to only provide respiratory therapy every 4 to 6 hours to my 2-year old nephew.

My parents are worried. They are worried about my nephew's health, my grandfather's health, their financial situation and their future. My dad has been struggling to keep his business running the last few years, so my mom stepped up to help him as a freelance proffesor working two jobs to pay the bills and provide for them. If she doesn't work she don't get pay. Right now, with everything frozen in the island, there is a sense of uncertainty. I know my parents, they will never ask me for money but I know that is their biggest concern. How they are going to live without an income? Or, for how long they are going to be without jobs? I want to help them as much as I can the same way they helped me and my siblings as we grew up.

This is just one side of our family. We haven't heard from all of them.

Friends, we've created this fund on behalf of the Franco, Rodriguez, Rosario, Garay and Montalvo families. Your donation will go directly to my bank and I will be dividing the funds between our families according to their needs. With your donation we will send supplies such as non-perishable food, water, water filters, medications, lanterns, fans, batteries, baby items (baby food, wipes, diapers) mosquito nets, repellents, and other basic need items for a few months. We are also planning to use this relief fund to get two generators. Please know that any remaining donation on this fund will be divided and send to those families in Puerto Rico that need it the most.

This effort will relief any burden caused by Hurricane Maria, and most of all it will give them hope.

Please, help me today. Help me reach this goal by spreading the word.

I pray for health and prosperity over you and your loved ones,

Eliyashira Franco
