On March 11th our dear mother began a journey none of us had expected. We are feeling so grateful that she is still with us, after suffering a severely ruptured brain aneurysm over a month ago. With our father's quick action, she was stabilized at Sonoma Valley Hospital and then quickly transported to UCSF. Her life was saved by the courageous and kind neurosurgeons, nurses, and personal care assistants there. The neurosurgeons were able to coil and stabilize the aneurysm and treat multiple vasospasms carefully. While at UCSF she spent just over 3 weeks in the Neuro ICU and just over a week in the Neurosurgery Recovery wing. We (and the doctors as well) have been in awe of her strength, will, and kindness.
Over the course of her hospital stay, she had to face many challenges, but we are happy to say that she is now home and so incredibly happy & comfortable. We were told "she will recover fastest at home" and we could not have been happier to prepare this space for her arrival. Now at home, we will have help from a beloved caretaker, Margaret, to ease her recovery and help assist my father. This cost will be out-of-pocket and not covered by their health insurance.
We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial stresses that come with this additional cost and other expenses that have arisen throughout Mom's recovery journey. We are so grateful for the love and support we have received over the last month and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
We will continue to share updates on Mom's progress here and on her Caring Bridge page. Sending love and gratitude to you all!
