A Father's Quest to Meet His New Daughter at Last!

July 15th, 2019 will be a day I will remember for the rest of my life.....It was, by far, the best day of my life. Let me tell you why..... This day began like most any other day. After a full day of work, I stopped to check my mailbox on my way home from work. Never, did I imagine, what I would find in my mailbox on this day, would forever change my life, but it did. As I walked into the house, I was greeted by my baby boy, Kujo-Nujo (My German Shepherd). As he has every day for the past 4 years, Kujo excitedly jumped all over me, excited I was home at last for the evening. You see....it has been just he and I for the past 4+ years, ever since my ex-wife and I divorced, something that came as a total surprise and completely unexpected to me. But Kujo and I made it through that trying time and have been partners in crime ever since. As I ruffled through the handful of mail in my hand, I noticed one letter, a plain white envelope addressed to me, but with no return address. Of course, this immediately peaked my curiosity so I hurriedly opened it and began to read the letter that would change my life forever....This is what it said..... "None of my business, but you should know. Hope it is good news. Your ex-wife had a baby about 2 years ago or so at the hospital in Borger (TX). It was a girl and named Roslyn Venable. Caryn (My Ex-Wife) was teaching in Borger at the time. She hid it from the lawyers. After you divorced, she had the baby's name changed to her maiden name. They are living in Amarillo now. It will be hard to prove, but if you locate them, a DNA test should work. I wish you the best of luck...Signed, Anonymous." I immediately fell to my knees, tears streaming down my face, and I cried out to God with a cry that I have NEVER heard myself give before, thanking Him for, at last, making my greatest dream come true....I was a father! I have waited for over 38 years for this moment. I have dreamt of some day being blessed with a child of my own. Dreamt of the opportunity to be the best father a child could ever ask for. And, admittedly, the closer I got to 40 years old, the more I would find myself doubting if ever I would get such a chance. I began to question whether or not God even had it in His plans for me to have children of my own. I did....I began to give up with each year that passed. But oh, don't we serve a MIGHTY, MIGHTY God! After allowing all of this to sink in for a day or two, I immediately went to work. First of all, I needed to confirm that this was actually true. Unfortunately, due to my name not being on the birth certificate as it should have been, I was unable to get any information from the hospital of course. Then, a friend suggested that I request a birth verification letter from the state, which I did right away. To my surprise, I received their response less than a week or so later. Upon opening it and reading it, tears of joy once again came pouring down my cheeks, my smile ear-to-ear......That letter read: "A search was made of the BIRTHS records in the state of Texas to verify the birth of the person named below. A birth record was filed for ROSLYN ELIZABETH FLEMING born on March 26, 2016 in HUTCHINSON County, Texas." IT WAS TRUE!!!! I REALLY WAS A FATHER AT LAST!!!! All of that being said, you may be wondering my purpose for creating this GoFundMe Campaign. Allow me to tell you..... Though my ex-wife did the unthinkable and hid the pregnancy and birth of our daughter from me, thereby causing me to miss out on so many things that can NEVER be relived or replaced....the birth, her first steps, first words, etc...I do know this....My daughter is in the hands of a WONDERFUL mother and, for that, I am truly grateful. My goal is never to demand custody or tear my daughter away from her mother or anything like that, however, I DO want to be a part of my daughter's life because I know just how vitally important it is for ANY child to have both a mother AND a father in their lives to help teach them, guide them, love them, and show them the way as they grow and develop.  Therefore, I have began taking the necessary steps to do just that. In order to do so, of course, I am going to have to retain an attorney so they can assist me in filing all of the necessary legal paperwork and to represent me as this matter works it way through the court system and process. Finding an attorney, at first, was challenging in itself due to several reasons, however, just yesterday, I finally found one who is willing to help me make this happen. Unfortunately, it's not going to be cheap to do so, however, I do not care. I am not going to quit until I am able to come up with every penny needed, I will do whatever it takes to make this happen, be it through fundraisers such as this or selling cupcakes on the street corner....I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN for the sake of my baby girl Roslyn! This attorney has asked for a retainer of $7,500 to begin the process, etc and will charge me $400/hour once those funds have ran out. Every penny raised from this campaign and/or any other fundraising efforts, will be going to cover these fees and any future fees that may be incurred during this process. I am happy to provide any and all receipts and a full, detailed accounting of all monies received and all monies spent so there is complete and utter transparency for all.  That being said, I would like to ask you....."Are you willing to help us in making this happen?" Be it $1.00, $10.00, or $100.00, please understand, EVERY CONTRIBUTION MATTERS and is GREATLY APPRECIATED!  And, of course, I will continue to keep you all updated throughout this process as it plays out and cannot wait to share with each and every one of you the special moment when I will finally be able to meet, hug, and hold my baby girl, Roslyn Elizabeth for the very first time! The first hug of MANY hugs to come for years and years ahead.....God Bless you and, again, THANK YOU for your love and support!  Respectfully, Johnathan & Roslyn Elizabeth
