For Our Jesse

We are a group of people from the book community, mainly from Europe who are raising money for Jesse from Bowties and Books, our friend. Jesse is a big part of this community that many admire and we (the fundraising team) are pleased to be able to call a friend. Jesse is doing a lot for the Black Lives Matter movement right now and we wanted to be able to show some support.
Over the last few days Jesse has been putting themselves at the front of the line in the Minneapolis protests to fight for Black Lives Matter, while also doing an incredible job to document everything. They have been so brave and awe-inspiring to stand their ground in the face of so much adversity.

The donations will be spent in a number of ways as jesse sees fit: for supplies to help with the protests including goggles, masks, personal protective equipment, sanitiser to protect against covid19, personal needs and also new clothes after many protestor’s clothes have been destroyed. Furthermore, a portion of the money may be donated in Jesse’s name to other charities and fundraisers that are a part of the Black Lives Matter movement, and the specific charity or charities will be chosen by Jesse.
Jesse is such a strong presence in the bookish community that we all respect and admire and I know so many of us wish we could be standing in Minneapolis with them. This is our way of saying thank you for your bravery, and this GoFundMe acts as a token of respect and support.
I know a lot of people have been donating towards various fundraisers to help with this fight, but we thought it would be a good idea to do everything we can to show Jesse our support from the book community.
Jesse can choose how to use this money, whether it's for supplies or for new clothes after being gassed (for themselves and others that are fighting alongside them.) It may be used for anything in the coming fight, and they might need bailout money if they, or anyone they know, is arrested.
This is our way to help stand with them, help them in this battle. We can't be there in person, but we can help make sure they have everything they might need.
We will send the money directly to Jesse, either directly from gofundme to their account, or through my own account and then directly to the recipient. If the latter is the case, I will keep a detailed invoice that a number of people, including the recipient, will validate and ensure that every penny will be sent to the recipient.
