For our Community Heroes: Nurses & Doctors
Donation protected
What makes Winston-Salem strong is how this community can rally around a common cause. COVID-19 has created a lot of unknown but the one constant we see are those in the medical field who are on the front lines. We have seen thousands of photos of doctors and nurses holding signs encouraging people to stay home while they work to either help find a cure or help those who are fighting for their lives. We see photos of tired nurses who have bruised faces from their masks that they wear throughout the day and night. While we are asked to shelter in place, we too can play a part. We create this page as a way to collect donations to not only help feed the doctors, nurses and families in isolation but also to help local restaurants who need our support as well.
While this cause is a work in progress, our first group that we plan on helping feed are the doctors and nurses and the families in the Brenner 8th Floor Isolation. The 8th Floor hosts pediatric patients that are in isolation because they are at high respiratory risk so parents are not able to come and go as needed. We will be working with Dr. Cara Haberman and the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital's Office of Philanthropy to deliver meals this Thursday, April 9th.
