For a faithful mother - Ailyn Sicat

The whole world has been affected with the dreadful virus since last year. I wasn't scared of COVID and my husband can attest to that. He would sanitize every grocery item we buy and would sanitize from time to time that I get mad at him saying I didn't want to poison myself with alcohol and sanitizers. I wasn't afraid.. UNTIL one of my family members got affected - my loving mom. Before everything else, I am telling you, IT IS REAL. IT REALLY IS. LET US BE SAFE AND FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES.

My mom was rushed to the emergency room due to difficulty of breathing on March 26, 2021. In the past, my mom was very much able to maintain her diabetes and high blood pressure. While at the emergency room, assessments, tests, and laboratory work were done to confirm her diagnosis. Through Xrays and tests they confirmed she was indeed affected with the dreadful virus - COVID. They did first aids and suctioning to help her with her breathing. Her Oxygen level was fluctuating for which during that time, it went so low as 32. This made her be admitted in the ICU after a long adn frustrating search of available rooms as EVERY HOSPITAL in Pampanga, Philippines is having a long waitlist for people awaiting to be treated for COVID.

After almost 24 hours of waiting in the Emergency room, we were waitlisted in several hospitals. The shortest waitlist we had was at #1 in a certain hospital in Angeles City, Pampanga and the longest is at 70+. With fervent prayers, God sent an available room for us in the same hospital- which we are very grateful and thankful for. GOD IS TRULY LISTENING. We know our mom is a fighter and she confirmed it when she uttered "Bisa kung salese" (I want to get better) before all the treatments were being administered during that time.

Although she is under a lot of stress during that time, she has been able to remain conscious and responsive from that moment until the present. That is why I firmly believe she is at her strongest right now.

 March 28-March 30, 2021

Currently, my mom is still in the ICU and we are very thankful to God that bit by bit she is improving. Her Oxygen has been stable within the almost normal limits. My mom is fighting and it gives us hope.

She is responding well with her treatments now. The medications, treatments, medical professional fees, are quite expensive that even me working in Canada is having a difficulty managing our finances right now. We love our mom so much. I still want her to enjoy taking care of her grandkids in the future and spend more time with my tatay (dad). We all know he is a fighter and will get through this but we need your help. First, we need help in storming heavens with prayers to help my mom and the medical team that is in charge of her. We also need prayers for the whole Sicat family to be strengthened during this time. And please pray that discrimination will be out of the picture too! as being affected with COVID alone is hard, let us not discriminate!

We know that everyone has been affected with this pandemic. Several people have lost jobs, cut off hours from work, closed businesses, and all. I myself and my husband are affected with job loss during this pandemic here in Canada, It is not easy. My sister is working in the Philippines and has to take a month or so of leave to be able to attend to my mom's needs. My mom and my dad are running a convenience store in our place, which is of course closed right now. As we are getting extra cautious too for my dad we didn't want him to have any contact with other people just to be sure.

Healthcare in the Philippines is very costly. From time to time the hospital sends out prescriptions for medications and almost all of them costs no less than a thousand pesos per piece.

My mom is undergoing hemoperfusion everyday and she is using a kit which is disposable and that alone costs 35,000 pesos. The treatment alone and the kit is costly but it is helping her a lot with her breathing and recovery.

We all know she is a true fighter! And we will get through this but we need your help greatly so. I am humbly asking for your support.

All funds raised will be received by me, Kathleen Sicat, her daughter, and will go towards:

*her current hospitalization bill ($1100/day)

*medications ($400-500/day)

*professional fees for doctors and specialist that we do not know yet how much.

*supplies (wipes, under pads, milk, ) ($100/day)

Thank you for taking time to read my mom's current journey. Any contributions will be of great help and will be very much appreciated. This will be and has been a challenging journey for the whole SICAT FAMILY and I, but we are willing to do whatever it takes to help our mom recover and get back to her normal life.

I am thanking you for all the support and PRAYERS you have been giving us and this financial support will greatly help us.
