FONI KANSALA DIASPORA RAMADAN 2020 APPEAL

ABOUT :
Foni Kansala Diaspora Association has been set up to help ‘give something back’ to our community. It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving something to those people who need our support. Since its inception 10 years ago, the Association has been fostering stronger Community cohesion and enhancing the quality of life of the people of Foni Kansala and beyond.

The Association has been complementing developmental efforts in the areas of Health, Education, Religious activities, Poverty alleviation and disaster relief among others. The Association is urging the people of Foni Kansala and the wider community to join in our #Ramadansugar campaign to help support those in need this Ramadan.

THE APPEAL:
As we all know that Ramadan is a chance to improve ourselves and to do more for others, knowing that the rewards will be multiplied. Ramadan is an opportunity to reap great spiritual rewards, but also a reminder to nurture connections with our communities and to reach out to people who need help.

Those fortunate to be living in relative ease can increase our efforts to help those struggling with poverty or finding it difficult to meet daily needs during the holy month of Ramadan.
By supporting our Campaign, you will be easing the hardship of some of the most vulnerable people – and helping change their lives during the holy month.

Last year our sugar supplies have been a lifeline for many households in Foni Kansala. Our Annual Ramadan campaign enables people of Foni Kansala in the diaspora to donate and help those back home. The donations we received last year alone allowed us provide sugar to more than 10 communities in Kansala District.

This year, our aim is to extend our helping hand to all the 43 villages in Foni Kansala. This is the reason why we are calling on the people of Foni in the UK, other parts of Europe, USA, Middle East and Africa as well as those who want to donate in the spirit of Islam and brotherhood to join our campaign and donate generously. A bag of sugar cost between £25-30*, or €29-35* or $32-38* (These are based on estimates as exchange rates may vary as well as price of sugar).

Last year’s distribution was a massive operation from start to finish, starting with the needs assessment to making sure that the sugar meets those most in need, then transferring the funds, procuring bags of sugar at a decent price and then organising the logistics for the distribution.
We are very proud of the teams on the ground who carry out the work headed by our own MP Hon. Musa Amul Nyassi.

Time is of the essence as sugar prices increase in the run up to Ramadan. We want to make sure we get the best possible price so we can reach as many people as possible.
