Flood Relief for Laura
Laura Rahn, my fiancee, lives with her mother in Dusseldorf, Germany. Their home was hit by the widespread flooding from the recent climate disaster affecting northern Germany. Her area of Dusseldorf experienced severe floods due to huge rainfall overflowing the banks of the river Dussel. She and her mother were awoken in the middle of the night by flood warnings and forced to flee, carrying their most prized possessions in their hands and on their backs as they waded through water above their knees to evacuation cars. They are currently staying, along with their displaced relatives, in the only intact small apartment within the family. They are assessing the damage to their home and goods to find out what to do next. Many of their personal possessions, their furniture and electronics, and the majority of home furnishings we all enjoy, were exposed to floodwaters and are either ruined or outright destroyed. Our goal is to provide support for both re-housing Laura and replacing the family's lost essential possessions.
