Flagstaff Flooding Neighborhood Rebuild

Donation protected

We are raising money for the east side community of Flagstaff, AZ. After the museum fire in 2019 and 2-3 years with no monsoon rain we are experiencing extreme flooding. We have just begun our monsoon season and are worried about the continued flooding we will soon experience. EDIT: We are learning that this flooded street was not due to the Museum Fire burn scar. There was another fire on the south slopes of Mt. Elden 44 years ago that caused this, along with severe drought.

How this money will be used

Edit July 19th: Wow what a week it has been! I will be turning off donations at the end of this week, as we feel the contributions have reached a extremely beneficial amount. I hope you know how significant even $200 is to someone who works at or close to minimum wage, which is most of this street. I will have all funds withdrawn to my account and begin distributing donations as soon as I have received it. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shown support and donated. It is appreciated more than you can know. - Taylor

Edit July 17th: As we have talked to neighbors and have herd from the city and who is receiving other aid, this is how we have decided to spend your donations. This is how we feel we can fill the gap and provide support that the city or other non profits are unable to.

We have many neighbors that had to miss out on work due to the damage and not being able to leave. We will be providing them with at least one days wage.

Several neighbors asked for help reaching their deductibles for their cars that were damaged as well as repairs for cars that were not total losses.

We have two particularly damaged fences and we will be providing money for supplies to help them rebuild.

After dispersing funds if there is anything left we will be donating to a local nonprofit. There are other parts of the city affected and the non profit we choose will be in continuing aid for everyone.

As of right now the amount we have gathered is going towards the above. We will be keeping up the link through next. Flagstaff is expected to have more significant rain again this week, if anymore damage occurs over the next week we will reevaluate our neighbors needs. Thank you again for all of your donations.

We are hoping to provide immediate assistance to families to pay for hotels as many homes were built in the 1970s and have lower level basement type levels that were flooded. As of right now we know of 5 neighbors whom which had their daily vehicles crushed during the flooding. We hope to contribute to their deductibles or assist in rental cars while they wait for insurance claims to clear. There are many fences that have been taken out we hope to contribute to building supplies for those affected. Our goal is to use the money to fill in the gaps between insurance, city aid and community support. The damage being reported is still developing.
