Emergency surgery for Dexter

Hi, my name is Khurrum and I am raising funds to help out my sister, Irma, and her husband George to cover the costs of surgery and care needed for their dog, Dexter.

On January 24th 2023, Dexter came in limping & clearly anxious from the backyard where he was playing. He quickly became unable to use his hind legs. He was rushed to an emergency veterinarian where he was seen by a neurologist and diagnosed with 2 ruptured discs in his back. The next day he underwent surgery for intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) to repair those discs in hope he would regain function of his hind legs.

My sister and husband did not think twice about getting Dexter to surgery as soon as they could. I know they have spent upwards of $13,000 just for the procedure and the subsequent hospital stay. Dexter is home now and requiring nearly around the clock love, attention, and care. He still has not regained the function of his legs but we are still very hopeful for a full recovery.

Irma and George also have a 1-year old son and they are trying to their absolute best to manage work, care of their son, and helping Dexter through this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution to this fundraiser would go a long way towards helping ease their burden.

Dexter truly is the sweetest and gentlest dog you could ever meet. He was rescued nearly 7 years ago as a pup and our whole family loves him very much. He has never hurt a fly and loves playing with his sisters, Lana and Sandy.
