First Amendment Defense for Christians at LNC

We are in a fight to protect our children's first amendment rights to learn in an environment that is free from religious discrimination and hostility towards our beliefs as Christians. Lake Norman Charter High School has adopted for use in 9th grade English "The Poet X," a book filled with profanity, sexual situations involving minors and over 20 anti-Christian verses which we will not reprint here. We feel that reading this book in the classroom constitutes a hostile work environment for Christians and we believe that there is no place for soft-core pornography in schools. The Board of LNC disagrees, and has affirmed the choice of this material. Now, we fight.
In consultation with our attorneys, we believe we have an excellent chance to prevail if this case is tried in Federal court, but it will not be cheap, and it will not be easy. We have been given an estimated cost of $15,000 to get to the stage of filing an injunction, which will be critical in stopping the book from being put in front of unsuspecting children in the next few weeks. We are humbly asking for your support. We have already spent thousands of dollars investing in legal research and preparation to this point.
