Fire Took Alex's Home and Car

My son, Alex, lost his (two-family) rental house in a huge fire (possibly electrical - it did not start in his apartment), all his belongings, and his car (half melted). I am grateful beyond words that my son and his roommates and cat made it out unharmed, but the losses they experienced are devastating.

Alex is a bladesmith and is just getting going so anything he earns goes into supplies to keep going. He has no savings and his partner and roommate are in the same boat. They also had no renter's insurance (a lesson learned the hardest, possible way). Alex just got a car two months ago and it is totaled. The amount that matches the book value is much lower than the amount of his loan, as that is how it goes with used cars. Reliable transportation is critical.

I help my son in every way that I can, but because of my health challenges that have led to financial challenges, I cannot cover these losses. I am reaching out, hoping that many people can give something...a little bit, and that many small amounts add up to something that will help get my son back on his feet.

He and his partner and friend are safe and have food and clothing. Alex needs money to cover the gap so that he can replace his car (it was a 2016 Hyundai...basic and reliable), he needs a computer, money for a down payment to get into a new apartment, a bed, and some basic furniture. Food and clothing are covered. He still has his phone. Asking for help is a hard thing to have to do. I know that we live in a time when many people need help, so Thank You for your time and consideration. It is appreciated beyond words.
