fire loss families Chaffin Orchards
Donation protected
Sunday night winds and downed power lines kicked up a fire in Cherokee that quickly blew over Table Mountain onto Chaffin Family Orchards farm. Families who have lived there as farm workers for three generations had no warning and just made it out before their homes were overtaken and burned to the ground.. The homes still smolder as people are left to sift through the ashes.
The Gutierrez family settled on the farm in 1961 and the first two generations still work on the ranch today providing us with the best olive oil, grass fed beef, oranges, apricots and peaches that many of us enjoy. In the blink of an eye their homes and belongings have been completely destroyed.
Friends of Chaffin Orchards want to help out the Gutierrez Family who are continuing to attend to their people, the livestock, and the land in the aftermath of this fire. We are hoping to raise funds to help provide housing, clothes, bedding, and other basic household goods to these hardworking families who lost their homes.
