Fionn Brogan Trust

Donation protected

As friends of Micheal and Maeve Brogan we would like to support the fundraising efforts for their son Fionn. We would like to help out( here in Sydney, Australia) by swimming in the ocean every day for the month of August and all funds raised will go directly to the Fionn Brogan Trust.

At 3 years old Fionn was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a fatal disease that attacks the muscles. Every time Fionn exercises or does any activity, his muscles don’t have the ability to heal themselves and grow. Over time, this will mean Fionn will no longer be able to climb the stairs, play football, or do so many of the things that he loves to do.

We want to make the next few years the best they can possibly be for Fionn. We are raising funds to adapt the house so he can freely use a power wheelchair, operate hoists to raise Fionn in and out of his chair, and all sorts of other appliances needed to support Fionn’s condition.

Please donate through the link below (Aussie dollars)......Every penny will go towards Fionn!!!

MEET OUR TEAM OF FUNDRAISERS:

Tadhg 'the barrell' Purcell (aka Barreller):

"I am a childhood friend/brother of Micheal Brogan (Fionns Dad). The Brogans front door was always open to me since I was a boy and if it wasn't I knew where 'the spare key' was hidden!!

My aim with this challenge is to help support Michael's family financially whilst spreading positivity and having a bit of craic.

Last year, as a group of Irish lads living abroad, we started swimming in the winter for mental health awareness and from there it has grown into an annual event.

Seeing the amazing fundraising efforts from The Fionn Brogan Trust we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to help support a great cause."

Neil ‘the joker’ Waldron:

“I’m doing this challenge as I have kids Fionns age and I just can’t imagine how hard it is for little Fionn, his parents and family. T o be able to contribute in this small way and show our support by experiencing just a little discomfort every day is the least we can do and I’m honoured to be involved. I’ve had to travel for family member health reasons myself this August so my my ‘freezing’ will happen in the Irish Sea, the cold shower at the quarantine hotel and the Pacific Ocean.”

John “The Hairy Fella” Whealans:

"I’ve been friends with Cement Mickser Brogan for years having met through Naomh Olaf GAA Club. As Mick’s pal and a Dad of a son of similar age (Albie) to Fionn, I’m inspired to get in that cold water everyday in August and raise some funds to help the Brogan family while also helping my mates and myself with our mental fitness. Thank you for supporting such a worthy cause!"

Ultan “The Hurricane” O’Dwyer:

"I am honoured to be helping out to raise funds for such a great cause, its inspiring to see all the great work our community back home and over here are doing to hopefully make things a bit easier for Fionn and his family.

Its also a great opportunity to look after our mental health together by encouraging eachother to stay fit and active and talk about mental health, which is important to me having lost my brother Lorcan to mental health a number of years ago.

The only downside to this is the constant threat of Whealo doing a video in his speedos, which is something its fair to say we can all dowithout seeing!"

Shay 'The Floating Otter' Coughlan:

"I've known the Brogans since I was a kid as their family home is just over the road from ours in Balally and my sister Gill was best friends with Fionn's Aunty Clare growing up.

Hearing about Fionn's diagnosis with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and the bravery he has shown in the face of the disease has inspired me to take on this Cold Water Challenge and fundraise for the Fionn Brogan Trust.

Thanks for the support"
