Fiona's London Marathon on a treadmill!
It was Fiona's London Marathon result back in 2004 that was the catalyst for the creation of the Vegan Runners club. An "Elite" runner cannot wear any old tee shirt, they must wear an affiliated club top and so with Fiona being one of a handful of Elite female athletes on the start of these big marathons, it was a fantastic opportunity to promote veganism and be "seen" wearing the word VEGAN on TV - rather than being lost in the crowds of the mass race
So as Fiona cannot sensibly leave the sanctuary to do the race itself, she plans to run the 26.2 miles on her treadmill and is tragetting a sub 3 hour time
Apologies for the short notice - but any sponsorships of this event will really help the sanctuary as we are down in donations vs costs for April - so far - by about £4000 - it's been a heavy month with muck removal costs to take into account too
More information about Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary: Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary provides care and a forever home to around 400 rescued animals, both domestic and ex-farm. Fiona Oakes runs the sanctuary with Martin's help and a small team of volunteers. Every single penny donated goes towards the cost of feeding the rescues which is in the region of 25,000 per month.
