I am very proud to have been selected as the Cork South Central Anti-Austerity Alliance candidate.
The historic and inspiring water charges movement has proven that ordinary people have the power to effect real change in society.
I'm running in this election not just to highlight the victories of the past several years that working class people have achieved but also to highlight issues of inequality that are deepening as the supposed recovery widens the gap between the wealthiest and poorest in our society.
The 8th amendment continues to endanger women's lives and health on a daily basis while this government continues to ignore the thousands of women who are forced abroad every year to access safe abortion services. I hope to use my campaign to continue to highlight this grave injustice and ensure that it is a key general election issue going forward.
The current governments policy of austerity has disproportionately effected young people who now face high costs of living, accelerating rent costs and precarious and under paid work.
Through my campaign, I wish to draw new layers of young people into activity and to encourage people to demand a new kind of politics, one that doesn't just require input or participation once every five years but to believe in the strength that organised working class people can have throughout the course of the next government.
Help me fund my campaign, to help spread our message and to build a movement for the 99%.
