Every detail was perfect with Fiona, from the day she was conceived our first try, till the last day of pregnancy that included 0 falls, and 0 accidents.   A healthy, stress free pregnancy with no complications. This Valentines day, she was induced early in the morning because she was a week overdue. It took 17 hours of painful labour and 2 failed epidurals before the dilation had reached 10 cm's and it was time to push. Little did we know, that she was stuck in the birthing canal. She made it out in about 16 minutes. Everything was going fine afterwards, we got to hold her, got some skin on skin contact and began to bond. She even latched easily to her mothers breast and began to eat all by her self. After being out of the womb for 17 hrs she started to have Clonic Seizures. They rushed her out of the room and put her in the Nicu and sedated her to try and stop the seizures. They ran all kinds of inconclusive tests at the Sudbury Nicu before realizing it was more serious and getting the Toronto Sick Kids involved, who took her to their up to date, modern, Nicu to give her proper care and figure out what's wrong. We drove down to be with her, beating the plane to Toronto. They ran a lot more tests, but the MRI came with horrible news. She has severe brain damage from the birth itself... and was fine before. She should have been c-section baby, cut out to save her, but how would we have ever know?  Maybe the doctor should have known? Now we need to move to Toronto so she can get all the care she needs as we see how this traumatic brain injury develops into the unknown.  We're not sure what the road ahead has in store for us, but all we know is that we are going to need all the help we can get. From travel costs, to medical equipment, it's going to be tough to make ends meet so we are hoping to grab the support of all of our friends and family during this difficult time. We love Miss Fiona with all our hearts and we just want to give her the best chance we can.  Will she have developmental problems? Will she walk? She's not going to be just like every other little girl, but she is so special to us, such a beautiful gift. We are poor parents. We don't have the options or support necessary to care for her. We don't come from money, but we're good people. We need help please.
