Hi, my name is Annielyn. I'm a filmmaker passionate about telling authentic stories. I'm working on a 6 to 8-minute documentary exploring the journeys of my mom's circle of friends, my titas.
They are Filipina women who immigrated to America. Through their heartfelt stories, we'll uncover how they found a sense of home in a foreign land and belonging through the friendships they formed within their community.
This film is more than just a short video—it celebrates immigration, grief, and finding power in a community as the Filipinas rely on each other in their transition to America.
By sharing their experiences, we hope to inspire conversations about finding a community, especially transitioning to a new country and difficult times. We hope this short film will be shared so that other immigrants will find a community in America.
Current progress:
The short film is 30% completed. I've interviewed my titas and edited the story. The remaining parts are filming more scenes, adding b-roll, coloring the footage, and sound design. I don't want the film to stop there, but I'd like to enter it into film festivals to gain more extensive traction and audience, as the topic is universal enough for others to hear.
What will I do with the funds?
Finishing a video is beyond passion and dedication. Your donations will help cover the following:
Production Costs
- $200 to $300 for video equipment rental: I am not finished with the video, so we'll need to film extra scenes and obtain B-roll footage to enrich the story.
Post-Production
- $400 to $600 for a Sound Designer - I plan to contract for custom sound design and music to help elevate the piece.
- $600 to $1,000 for a Colorist - High-quality recording elevates the piece but requires a professional colorist to color the footage and bring it to life.
Marketing & Distribution
- $150 to $300 for Festival submissions and promotional materials - Entering it into various film festivals to help bring awareness to this topic.
