Fighting COVID-19: Hand Sanitizers for San Diego

Donation protected

My Mission
My mission is to provide at least 5,000 personal hand sanitizers to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to help ensure the safety and health of all San Diegans.

My Story
As a high school student at home due to the virus, I wanted to make a valuable contribution toward the battle against the Coronavirus. There has been a massive shortage of all safety supplies, including hand sanitizer, affecting many people.  So I decided to make hand sanitizer with my chemistry teacher, Dr. Justin McCabe, who owns 117º West Spirits Distillery in Vista, CA. This facility allows us to make the main ingredient in the World Health Organization hand sanitizer formula: distilled alcohol. So far, we have produced and donated 1,000 bottles of sanitizer with our own money and resources, but now we need your help to make at least 5,000 more.

Where We Are Donating
We have already donated 1,000 hand sanitizers to the most vulnerable members of our community through:
- Food Banks
- Scripps and Kaiser clinics healthcare workers
- Homeless Shelters
- Orphanages
- Foster Homes
- Churches
- A Native American Reservation

My Goal
Currently, it costs us about $1.50 to make a personal bottle of sanitizer. The $7,500 that we raise with your support will help produce at least 5,000 more bottles of hand sanitizer. These sanitizers will be donated to frontline healthcare workers, and to others in need throughout our community.

Publicity
Many organizations have contacted us with requests for sanitizer, and friends and family have asked how they can help. I am making sure our community knows that we are there for them through interviews with local news outlets. I have already interviewed with the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper, CBS Channel 8 San Diego News, and ABC Channel 10 San Diego News.
