Fight the LNG companies in court!
Donation protected
We have fought alongside our friends and neighbors to keep the liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals out of our Cameron County, Texas communities for 5 years, but the court battle is just beginning. And we need everyone's help to pay for it.
Who We Are
Save RGV is a nonprofit corporation started by volunteers and Rio Grande Valley residents. We are dedicated to working with stakeholders in our community to counter the false narrative that LNG is good for the economy and the environment.
The reality is that the tanks and smokestacks and smog associated with the three proposed LNG plants would harm local economic drivers like beach and nature tourism, shrimping and fishing, as well as the real estate market. The LNG industrial complex would be the largest source of air pollution in the Rio Grande Valley, exposing all of us, including children and the elderly, to dangerous toxins and particulates. If the plants are built and become operational they will lock in massive greenhouse emissions and accelerate West Texas fracking for another 30 years.
The Legal Fight We Are Facing
Save RGV is working with lawyers on an administrative appeal of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)'s approval of the LNG projects. We will show that the approval was rushed, incomplete, and did not comply with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Natural Gas Act, and the Endangered Species Act.
If our administrative appeal fails we will take FERC to federal court. Your donation will help us fight the LNG companies throughout this process!
