Fight Like Navaeh

Hi I'm Raven Gadsden the mother of Navaeh Butler.  I am a single mom and Navaeh is my second child.  Nevaeh's father died when she was 3 years old.  Here's our story, Navaeh complained of not being able to use the restroom at 6 years old, she was constipated often and complained of abdominal pain.  I took her to the doctor, they instructed me to change her diet to  include more fiber.  It  wasn't until February 7, 2019, she became ill at school and her school nurse advised me to take her to MUSC emergency room. This is where it continued, the doctor's did a biopsy and to the results of the biopsy, my baby was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma .  which is the most common liver cancer of children. February 8, 2019   I was devastated when I was told this unfortunate news.  I didn't know what to think, and of course when the word "Cancer" is mentioned, we often refer to it as the end of life.  Well, I am a fighter and so is my daughter.  She immediately began treatment and had several frequent visits to the doctor.  Last year a doctor's visit resulted in a report that the cancer was spreading and  October 28, 2019, she began chemotherapy again.  As we are on the road to recovery, two weeks ago, her test results came back only to be told that the cancer was spreading.  Navaeh was hospitalized again only to be told that my baby will have surgery and begin chemotherapy next week. She has already had part of her liver removed, but we remain hopeful.  Through all of this, I have been unable to work and my finances has suffered greatly.  I am very grateful for the support team that I have and the MUSC  Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital Staff. I very grateful for your support as it will help my children and I tremendously. I stand in war mode for my daughter and all other families that are traveling the same journey as we are.  #fightlikeNavaeh
