Fabric for Color Guard Uniforms

Donation protected
From the Color Guard Girls: For the past seventeen years the Color Guard team has worn same shapeless, unflattering, polyester, and choking uniforms during the marching season. With the help of an adult teaching the sewing and another keeping track of the accounting, the Color Guard team will be sewing new and stylish uniforms to be ready for their up coming competition. All they need is funds for the fabric.

From the Mom teaching the age old art of sewing:  The girls of the Hartland Color Guard (the ones who spin the flags as part of the Marching Band), are absolutely delightful teenagers.  In the two years I have worked with them as one of the uniform moms, they've impressed me with their organization and independence.   When they decide their Color Guard would benefit from something new, they take it upon themselves to acquire what is desired or needed.  The thought to ask for, or expect, these items to be provided to them has never occured to them.  I think that's amazing and incredible!  This is such an important skill and these girls will be amazingly successful in all that they do in life because they have the ability and desire to do for themselves.

I am also excited to teach them to sew garments for themselves.  It's been fun to go from a pencil sketch to a 3D rendering, and into actual pattern development with them.  They are witnessing first hand how anything is possible with creativity, belief, knowledge and effort.  And that right there is what I sincerely hope they take away from this experience.
