We are the McCallister's and God has chosen to begin growing our family through adoption. We are excited to announce that we are adopting a little boy from Africa!
Who Are We?
Bradley and I met in college and were married a little over two years ago. We're southerns by birth, northerners by God's work in our lives. We're both counselors, which makes for some interesting arguments around our house. We are passionate about providing trauma-informed care to those we serve and equipping those who help others to have a framework that is grounded in an understanding of how trauma can impact development which can in turn impact behavior. We love people and enjoy helping others in any way we can.
We're sinners saved by grace and we thank God each and every day that He is the foundation for our marriage, our future and our lives. We are passionate about discipleship and believe God has called us to live life authentically in community. We want to love God more and for that to translate into loving others better. More then anything, we love the Lord and how He is constantly redirecting our lives in big and little ways.
Our Adoption Journey (nutshell version)
Meek and I are both what you might call “planners”. We had spent the last year developing, preparing and planning for our next stage of life which included having a baby (Which as far as we know is still an option and we hope to have a baby in the future), moving below the Mason Dixon Line to be closer to family and opening up our own counseling center. We both felt that God had clearly told us that while our plans seemed fine, we were too focused on what we wanted and had not given enough consideration of what He might have for us. Basically our plans had become an idol. We felt God gently but clearly calling us to give Him our plans, hopes, and dreams because He’s got something better for us. Maybe not easier, maybe not something that will make us more comfortable. But something that will cause us to experience His love and grace in ways that we can't even imagine. We have been Redirected.
