Feet for the Future

Rantoul City Schools #137 is located in central Illinois.  We serve community students from Pre-K through 8th grade that are 99.5% low income.  We have 2x the amount of homeless students than that of the state average.  Two years ago we returned to "Community Schools".  This has been a positive initiative for our district, however it also means more students than before are walking to school.  Students who live within 1.5 miles of the school they attend do not qualify for bus services.  This requires some students to walk 30-45 minutes to school and back home.  Many of our students do not have proper footwear for everyday activities let alone to bear the elements for cold, rain and snow.  The money raised, will be used to purchase shoes for students of this district.  Children of poverty have so many barriers to overcome in order to recieve their education.  People often donate clothes and coats, but shoes are more easily worn through.  Children wear through shoes more quickly than other items of clothing or out grow them before they can be fully used.  Therefore, money for new shoes for these students means so much.  Please consider donating to these children.  Your generosity will directly impact the students of RCS #137.  We can all positively influence the life of a child, one step at a time.
