Feel Good Lane Mural Project

Welcome to the Feel Good Lane Mural Project!

This project is designed to create an art installation throughout “Feel Good Lane” which is located one block north of St. Clair and in between Arlington and Atlas Avenues.  This laneway borders Graham Park, a park where kids play & our community gathers. We want to create a beautiful public space that is welcoming and inclusive.

The St. Clair West Community

We are a thriving neighbourhood that takes great pride in our environment and community.  Our residents are made up of people & families from many cultural backgrounds who love to spend time outside in our public spaces.

History of Feel Good Lane

In 2016, the Ward 21 Laneway Naming Committee chose to name this lane Feel Good Lane after Barry “Feel Good” Luksenberg, who died tragically in 2014 in a motorcycle accident while travelling in Vietnam. Barry  grew up in the neighbourhood and was an MC with the local 512 hip hop crew.

Scope

There are approximately 18 large canvases that include garages + wall space in the laneway. Each space ranges from 14-16 feet wide x 8-10 feet in height. The first mural will be a double car garage (pictured above) which has been generously donated by Dr. Aliea Butt from Arlington Dental on St. Clair West.

Goal and next steps

Raise enough money to complete the entire installation, all 18 large canvases. We will start with the 1st double car garage and then the proceed to do all the garages and sides of buildings!

100% of funds raised will be used to pay the artist(s) and purchase materials.

We have reached out to local artists and the OCAD emerging artists program and if you know of any artists that would like to participate please email us at [email redacted]. We are aiming to have the first garage completed this fall.

We will also be putting out a call for local elementary and high school students to participate with the painting to fulfill volunteer hours.

The tone and imagery will be:

Colourful & vibrant
Inspire play & creativity
Captures our friendly, multicultural community
Positive + Lively

Artistic freedom will be respected

Looking forward to bringing the community together to create a beautiful space for generations to come.
