Feeding Miami Beach Families Impacted by Covid-19

With schools closed until the end of August, hundreds of kids in the Miami Beach area have been cut off from the free meals that make up their only stable access to nutrition. These children are going hungry. Sandra and Geraldine are two mothers who live on Miami Beach who have spent the last 4 weeks personally delivering food to hungry children and families in our neighborhoods. They have used the money raised by their girl scout troop (troop #1802) this year to source and deliver groceries. But new families are contacting them every day and the need is overwhelming.

Sandra and Geraldine are teaming up with the Miami Beach Kiwanis Community Benefit Fund to raise funding to feed these families until school resumes next fall. It takes $170 to feed one family from now until school starts. Every dollar raised will go directly to purchasing food, and every effort is taken to ensure that anyone who can get help from any other city organization is directed there first.

Money raised in this campaign is directed to the Miami Beach Kiwanis Community Benefit Fund which is buying the food and staple items. Special thanks to Temple Beth Shalom and Temple Menorah who are providing interim cold storage.

UPDATE: We are thrilled and incredibly grateful to everybody who has supported this important effort and helped us reach our first goal of $30,000! Unfortunately, new families are asking for support every day and the demand is increasing all of the time. We've decided to raise our goal to $40,000 in hopes that we can reach every child that needs our help.
