My name is Mahera Jeevanjee, and I am a physical therapist working at a local hospital in San Antonio. I work primarily on the Neuro Telemetry and Neuro ICU units. I have many friends and colleagues who are working on the front lines against COVID-19. Many of my friends and family have expressed a feeling of helplessness during this pandemic. Many have asked how they can help. Despite my reservations about a fundraiser during these difficult times, I was encouraged by numerous people who are eager to help.
The goal of this fundraiser is simple. Let's thank our health care workers who are fighting courageously and tirelessly on the front lines against COVID-19, and in turn support the local small businesses/restaurants that are struggling to keep their employees on their payroll. Let's come together as a community, and show our compassionate side, and gratitude for our healthcare heroes.
I have been providing meals for the COVID units and the ED at Methodist Hospital this past week and have learned what this task entails. Now I need your help in continuing this mission. I would like to raise enough funds to, eventually, expand this to all hospitals caring for COVID patients during this difficult time. 100% of the proceeds will be used to purchase delicious meals prepared by locally owned restaurants with exceptional health and safety standards. Frequent updates will be posted on this page to keep the donors informed on how the money is being spent. An Instagram page has been set up (Feed_The_Frontline_SATX) where you will be able to see your frontline heroes enjoying their meals.
Time is running out. With the hospitals expecting a surge in the coming weeks, let's get prepared to support our frontline workers who are not able to leave the units while caring for these patients during long shifts.
