FEED OUR KIDS — FEED THE FUTURE!
Donation protected
We’re urgently raising funds to feed the children of Superior, a small rural town in Arizona.
With the pandemic hampering the town’s fragile economy, there’s a real food crisis for many families.
Thanks to fast footwork by Superior’s schools, led by Superintendent Stephen Estatico we have the weekdays covered. Around 150 kids in greatest need receive free breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday.
But at the weekend, we have nothing to give them.
Food insecurity hurts: these kids are stressed at best, and hungry at worst. That damages their ability to learn and grow. Right now, their future is in our hands, so let’s do what we can to help them.
Weekend Meals Until the School Year Ends
Regenerating Sonora is leading an effort to plug the gap and feed the children every Saturday and Sunday. We need $4,200 to cover the rest of the school year. (We’re already making plans for a long-term solution.)
Even with funds, food supply is a challenge in the current environment. Thanks to support from Sandra Vangorp at Superior Food Bank, and Twanna Anderson at US Food Bank, we’ve tapped into a supplier who will provide what we need.
Thanks to teacher Valerie Denogean, Melissa Perez and other volunteers, we have everything we need to distribute the food.
All that’s missing now is the funds: $4,200
Orders for food must be placed in advance, and that means our campaign is urgent! We’re looking to meet our target of $4,200 by end of day Friday April 17th. Please help if you can. Every donation has value, no matter how small. A larger gift can be transformative.
Thanks in advance for the help!
