Open Schools California

Thank you for visiting the Open Schools California’s GoFundMe Page! We are an all-volunteer, grassroots group of parents across the state of California pushing the state and local school districts to safely reopen schools as soon as possible. Public health experts have reached consensus and the data is clear that schools can be reopened with strong safety protocols in place, such as masking, social distance, sanitization, and ventilation. 

However, we currently have no funding to carry our message beyond individually contacting parents through personal networks. We want to raise funds to help push Sacramento and local districts to reopen, to share the latest science and data that prove schools can be opened safely, and to get the word out to other parents on social media. 

If you’re able to donate $1, $5, or really any amount, you will help us build out our communications tools and provide them to parents for free! These will include helping parents contact their state and local elected officials, informing them of critical legislative decisions being made in Sacramento that will impact school reopening, and hopefully building a call-your-representative tool. But none of these tools can be created for free and we have limited resources. Currently we are self-financing our efforts, with the help of only a handful of parents.

We estimate that to create website hosting, text alerts, email update services, write-your-rep tools, and to advertise our campaign to reopen schools on social media will cost around $2,000. If we raise more than that, we will expand our efforts to mobilize parents to pressure Sacramento to put kids first and safely reopen California schools as soon as possible.
