My wife, Shane, and I have been trying to have a baby for two and a half years now. After about a year of trying, Shane began having tests done at the doctor to figure out what was wrong. After months of testing there was no obvious reason we weren't getting pregnant. She had a laparoscopy for endometriosis which was a success. The doctor thought Shane would be able to get pregnant within 6 months. When we still weren't able to conceive we were referred to a reproductive specialist who suggested IVF.
Unfortunately insurance does not cover infertility treatments. We used our savings to pay for a single cycle of IVF. Shane was on the highest doses of the medications to stimulate egg growth. Sadly, the eggs did not respond as they should have, so there were no embryos to transfer. The doctor told us that Shane could not produce a good quality egg and we should consider using an egg donor.
My parents were able to help us pay for a single cycle of IVF using an egg donor. You only get one batch of eggs per cycle. This time there were two embryos to transfer. We were so excited that there was a chance we would become parents. The success rate of IVF is around 40 to 45% and unfortunately it didn't work this time either.
We are out of money, but still desperately want to have a child. We will use the money raised on this site to purchase the IVF plan in which you get 6 batches of eggs, if necessary. We are hoping that having that many eggs will increase the probability of getting pregnant. This has been an emotional journey for us and we sincerely thank you for your donation.
