Jude’s Top Surgery Fund

Hello dear friends and family!

As (hopefully) you all know, I came out as transgender in 2018. Coming out was the greatest decision of my life! This part of my identity is so precious to me and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Over the last few years, I’ve been slowly getting my mind, my body, and my life in a position to pursue top surgery. For those who don’t know, “top surgery” is when transgender masculine people have their breast tissue removed to create a more masculine chest. After years of work and another year on a waitlist, I will be having my top surgery on SEPTEMBER 19, 2023!

I am truly so blessed to have a full time job with good insurance, social support, and amazing doctors. Many of my trans siblings don’t have these things. I know how lucky I am.

Unfortunately, my biggest obstacle is finances. Between the many health issues I’ve had to resolve and the alarming rise in cost of living, I am really struggling financially. This surgery will completely drain all of my savings and put me into more credit card debt. But it’s medically necessary for me at this point in my transition and I may never get this chance again. The United Stares, particularly Utah, are introducing more and more anti-trans legislation. Many trans folks, myself included, are planning escape routes to safer states. If I don’t get my surgery in September, there is a very real possibility that I won’t ever be able to get it. Even though my finances will be seriously impacted, I feel that this is the best decision for my life at this time.

I know everyone is struggling to bounce back after the pandemic. This has been such a difficult time for all of us.
