Family struck by a terminal Illness CADASIL
Spende geschützt
Cassidy is a devoted friend, sister, daughter, mother, partner, and teacher. She was diagnosed with a rare terminal condition called CADASIL.
CADASIL (Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy) is a rare hereditary condition that affects the blood vessels in the brain, in November 2022. It can lead to multiple strokes, debilitating migraines, cognitive decline, and other neurological symptoms.
One day in April she was walking around her house and felt a tingling sensation in her toes, she sat down and within minutes she became instantly paralyzed in her left arm and from the waist down.
Ambulance rushed her to Smithers as a hot stroke patient and immediately issued a CT scan. The following day she was sent 2.5 hours away via ambulance to terrace to receive an MRI. She spent 10 days in Bulkley Valley District Hospital and then was transferred to Wrinch Memorial Hospital, where she remains,
paralyzed and awaiting a transfer via medivac to Vancouver to undergo several treatment options and seek the help of specialists that know her disease.
During this time, her partner and two young children have been doing their best to keep life ‘normal’. Her partner has had to take significant time off of work in order to tend to their children which has resulted in huge financial strain on the family during a time that is already stressful enough.
Your support can make a meaningful impact on this family.
I will be posting updates on her progress as she gets additional treatment.
JULY 10TH 2024
After a long three months awaiting transfer, it has been confirmed that Cassidy will be transferred Monday July 15th to UBC Hospital in Vancouver. I will continue to update on her progress and she gets the much needed help she needs.
