Family Needs Help After Roof Disaster

My name is Kate, known as "Auntie Kate," to the family impacted by a roof collapse. I own a small business in the town where the incident happened on 12/11/24. I am an extended family member. My brother in law's brother's apartment roof collapsed resulting in an immediate evacuation of the building. His family left with the clothes on their backs. The family of Nate, Taylor and baby Charlie (2 years old) now face the upcoming holiday season with a handful of uncertainties. I spoke with Nate this morning asking how I could be of assistance. He answered he did not know and was not in the business of asking for help. They exited the building the night before with only the clothing on their backs. It was clear to me they were in total shock. He also shared with me that they were waiting to hear from the Red Cross about placement for a location to reside, be it a hotel or other accommodations for lodging. They also were eagerly waiting to hear inspectors to approve or deny reentry to the building to gather any possessions. This family could be facing the need to reestablish themselves in an new apartment which would require first, last and a security deposit. Our community has been asking on local pages what they can do to help these families and the small businesses effected by this tragedy so I created this page and encourage others to do the same. The Uxbridge community is strong and caring. Let's do what we can to help Taylor, Nate and Baby Charlie. Thank you for any support.
