Hi, my name is Mary. I am a mother of 2 beautiful boys. On the 2nd of August 2024, our son Isaac was born with breathing issues. He spent a lot of time in special care nursery (private) before being transferred out to Royal Prince Alfred hospitals intensive care unit for further treatment (public). Unfortunately after this we received an excessive amount of medical bills for his stay in the special care nursery, as well as bills for all the tests which were carried out. We were thousands of dollars out of pocket and really struggling to make ends meet, whilst trying to do everything in our power to help our son make it. We have not recovered since and are still in so much debt with a lot of the medical bills still not paid. We have tried working longer hours, taking on more work and doing everything we can, however we are just not catching up and are on the verge of loosing our home. The hospital have notified us that they have sent debt collectors after us. The most upsetting part of this story is how poorly we were treated at St George private hospital and how horrible the treatment was that was given to our son. They were unable to diagnose him and had no clue what was going on. They put his tiny body through 6 X-rays and still had no idea what the issue or solution was. Thankfully RPA saved our little ones life but it has just left us in a awful position with never ending stress. It would mean the world to us if our community could get behind and help us out of this horrible situation and give us a fresh start. We have been through immense trauma and just want to move on.
